@corbden Because actual tin was too easy to subvert, you see. In order to ensure there was adequate protections available for people who need to keep signals out, they had to infiltrate the tin foil companies and subtly shift to a far superior material without raising suspicion.

Sure, a *tin* foil hat will keep the signals out, but what they won't tell you: *whispers* it isn't made of tin anymore. -
Another reason to go cashless https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/26/us/politics/trump-signature-us-dollars.html?smid=url-share@jimfenton Eeeh... I still plan to move more to cash. I prefer the trackless victory over the symbolic one.

#fuckCloudflare@cR0w Not sure on the reference, but I love how this is clearly a conversation where both are tired of this.

So the last couple weeks have been nuts on keeping up with the news....but here's another that might have slipped under your radar and will effect basically everyone in the US. -
How many studies do researchers need to do before the threat of LLMs is taken seriously?@malcircuit I propose tbis isn't "being taken seriously" because it's seen as a plus for individuals seeking control.

Is Yelp a scam?@thomasareed Can't speak to the buisness owner experience, but I have learned I cannot rely on Yelp for things like "where is this buisness" and "when should I plan to call or stop by"

"The child is father of the man" - William Wordsworth@AAKL @thenewrepublic Strange how people who think this way go out of their way to avoid legal accountability as adults.

This is wild: a company is secretly scanning the internet for Zoom meeting links and turning them into AI-generated podcasts for $$$.@josephcox Literallg the only shield they have against how blatantly illegal this is is the "AI" layer.

The fess in the image is definitely some of y'all and you know it.@cR0w "some of y'all"? "y'all"?
Aren't you the one who broacasts the GayInt ThreatActor stuff to my feed?
This absolutely includes you.

Whoa, that escalated quickly.@raphaelmorgan @leeloo @briankrebs I imagine my stash of outdated 10/100 routers is about to become extremely valuble?

Let's create a new problem to solve the problem we created to solve a problem that didn't exist before we started mucking around with AI bots.@AAKL @Engadget You know what I find hilarious?
Before embracing AI and fucking with moderator approved bots, Reddit actually had this problem nearly solved with their reputation system and distributed moderation system.
Moderators would manage their communities and utilize bots they specifically chose to handle the large volume of comments. Users would upvote each other as they interacted as humans. Bots would then be nearly contained and restricted on the platform while users managed the spam for free.

I guess it's important to suck the fun out of playing games.@AAKL Okay forget everything else

Google has news on what you will need to do for still being able to sideload apps:@nazokiyoubinbou @FifiSch @grote
you can just flash again
Look that is comforting to someone who knows they can flash their phone. For someone who is doing it for the first time with exactly one device, that's essentially saying "If you find you do not have what it takes to do this, you can just do the thing you found you could not do to fix the mess you made!"
That is NOT going to be comforting to those who need that comfort.

Google has news on what you will need to do for still being able to sideload apps:@nazokiyoubinbou @FifiSch @grote Consider the failure state. If a user fails to set up installing outside programs, they can still use their phone and make calls. If a user fails to install a new OS, they have no phone until they succeed.

You know what LLMs are hilariously bad at?@ra6bit I may not be great at writing regex, but at least I know what tools I need to do it right! And to test it.

Just so we’re 1000% clear: no state or local government should be giving financial incentives to build a data center.@erosalie These companies are selling their product as a major inevitable and crucial transformation. If theses things are true, then they can afford to be taxed.
However - I do wish we used some term other than "Data Center", as it would be "Building a data center" for me to renovate a building to run local company websites out of.
