@uxmark @ascentale @bikenite also-also, this time of year, lot of people walking in the bike lane because lazy fucks in snow plows block the crosswalks so the sidewalks are useless. In that case, I ride in the street, in the center of the "car lane", because this is a car problem, not a pedestrian problem. I am large, male, white, privileged, on a big weird bike, I am more able to make that point than anyone else on the road.

Hey all, it's call for questions time for the next BikeNite coming up this Friday:@uxmark @ascentale @bikenite I try to play inoffensive music on a bluetooth speaker so that people can hear me approaching. I also aim to pass with such wide clearance that I don't need to signal, otherwise I slow down, a whole darn lot. At walking speeds, I may say "excuse me".
A bell has a 50% chance of making someone jump out of their skin. Too many people use "onYerLeft" like a magic phrase that only needs to be mumbled to gain passage w/o either slowing down or leaving room.

Things you like to see@spillanemike This probably has something to do with why we here in the US are noticing more "e-bike panic" motivating laws to make e-bikes harder to use. Yes, they are more dangerous than not-e-bikes. Whoopie. Anything 90% safer than driving a car, should be fine.

On International Mother Language Day, we celebrate the rich linguistic and cultural diversity that defines our Union, as well as the importance of protecting and promoting mother tongues across Europe.@kinkkong @proedie @kubofhromoslav @Pare @valhalla @EUCommission interesting, it makes me somewhat grumpy that it has trilled R. Some people (e.g., me) aren't very good at those, and there's entire populations who have a little trouble with R-vs-L. If I were designing a language from scratch, I would try to work with common sounds that most people can already make and hear.

Question for people that store bulk food long term.@bipolaron Beans that get too old, tend not to get very soft when you soak+boil them. A pressure cooker might still work. Not sure what slows this sort of aging.
