Every sex worker I've personally known did not start doing it for the Joy of Sex, but to survive due to egregious lacks of social safety nets, and economic policy that punishes workers while rewarding fat cat misery profiteers. There are genuinely people who enjoy the work, and a safe co-op / unionized environment would be great, but we can't ignore how often people come to the work due to regressive policies that ransom people out of doing what they love into doing whatever hazards they can just to survive. Sex work isnt the only profession where this happens - people putting their bodies on the line to make ends meet on pain of slow death - and the conditions that make this kind of exploitation thrive need to be dealt with. For example: Make the rich pay their damn taxes.
