I do think as long as hosting is relatively cheap or easy I would definitely prefer my own hosted instance versus a flagship ​​

I have been interested in a discrod alt not because of age verification, but because the nitro limitations drive me insane, apparently they have a similar (ish) pricing model, but that only applies to their instance and self hosted instances should be up to the host ​​

Payment being optional to support the team (honestly as long as it's one-time I wouldn't be upset about some features being under the lifetime pass, but to each their own)
