@xoagray @anthropy This is not a bad idea. At one point, I had no idea where a friend of mine lived. They lived in the country. I had only been there a few times, and always used GPS directions to get there. I forgot my phone one day, and had no idea how to get there. Lesson learned, write down names and addresses

I guess this is as good a time as any to remind people that@fluffywolfjasper Yes it is. It is very versatile. I think other apps, like, session, simpleX, signal, have taken over in popularity. XMPP still works well and can be decentralized as you want it to be. It can do texting, files, pics, and even voice. Encryption is pretty good as well. Matrix seems to be the new platform that everyone loves, but requires a lot more resources.

I have lost contact with people because apps were deleted or someone was removed from a group. Always get another way to contact. Email, phone, XMPP, Matrix, smoke signals, whatever
