Though I do have another possibly janky solution: cheap straps + some of those dog stakes. I put a level on the post and tightened until it was straight, at least this was my plan for the winter and it's held up so far.

@MissConstrue @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 @chertridge hah yah my current fence is nailed to a tree, sort of. Having not faired well some high winds...

@MissConstrue @MAJ1 @kibcol1049 this is correct, trees grow out rather than up from the base. Non-tree things that look like trees are liable to be different though
