@APBBlue @ebooksyearn There are several dogs in our neighborhood named "Cody." And it is always disconcerting at the dog park to hear "Cody, no!"

Addendum: I just got a text that says "Im coming with my wife."

I text back "The phone is at District Mart." I then get a phone call where I recount the sequence of events to the participants.

@ebooksyearn There are a lot of parallel realities in DC and a lost phone can be a portal key, I guess.

I grab the bikeshare and go home.

I call him back and say"Do you want this phone? I can leave it at the counter at District Mart." He says "Take your phone into District Mart and let me talk to the dude at the counter. He knows me." So I go to inside. Tuan says "Salaam. It's Tuan. I'm on the bus on the way there to get this phone." Dude at the counter is a little confused, but I sense he has a high chaos tolerance. I leave the phone with him.

I pull out my phone and call his number. At first it goes to voicemail, but after a few tries he answers. I say "Hey, it's me with the phone. Where are you at?" He says, "You can't fool me. I know you're a cop. Stop calling me." And he hangs up.

I bike over. Lock up the bikeshare. I walk up to a group of 6 or 7 guys and ask if anyone is Tuan or knows Tuan. Nope. Same procedure across the street. No sign of the guy.

I figure it's a public place, so it should be fine apart from finding the guy. He told.me.he was sitting at the streetcar stop, glasses, black clothes. I told him I am an older white guy with a beard.

So, the guy says he can come get the phone but he is on foot and about 30 min away. I send him my address, but he doesn't show. Eventually he calls and says "I am at the District Mart at 8th & H. Can you meet me?" It's getting late and this location, while only about 5 min by bike is chaotic.

I quickly explain the situation. He has been trying to reach her, and worried maybe she was with another man.

At this point, I am thinking I take the phone back to the trash can.

She has no.idea how it got in the trash can. "Was it with a Popeye's bag?"

While texting back and forth to decide where to meet, the phone rings again. It is her husband. "Who the fuck is this!" he yells.

It was a phone. Locked and no emergency contact information. Luckily the owner rang it again so we could connect.

Taking the dog for a walk, I heard a ringing noise from the sidewalk trash can.
