The report makes the following demands to the Government of Canada:
1. Co-develop regulations with communities
2. Develop AI as publicly-owned infrastructure
3. Ban AI from being deployed for surveillance
4. Stronger labour protections for workers
5. Regulatory bodies must protect themselves from regulatory capture by big tech
6. Enforce existing laws

This Monday, I had the pleasure of co-organizing a People's Consultation on AI event (background: https://www.peoplesaiconsultation.ca/) in Toronto with fellow members of Tech Workers Coalition Canada and members of @techfordemocracy. I had the special privilege of moderating a panel with amazing panelists: Cynthia Khoo, @anabrandusescu, Camila Justino, and Andrew Do.
