You know what helps me stay balanced in uncertain and brutal timesYou know what helps me stay balanced in uncertain and brutal times?
Helping people.
Help buy some groceries. Reach out to folks to let them know you care. Share something beautiful. Hug as often as you can. Encourage people around you.
All of those deeds we think are small matter and add up exponentially. -
I already signed up for thisI already signed up for this.
You should too.

Oh. so this is the thread people have been talking about.@julian @blogdiva @mekkaokereke Ha, nah. I’m good. I am all to familiar with white men trying to tokenize Black folks to look ‘progressive.’
-
I just constantly laugh about how people who never cared for or were a part of Black Twitter constantly reference it in an attempt to explain why Black people aren’t hereI just constantly laugh about how people who never cared for or were a part of Black Twitter constantly reference it in an attempt to explain why Black people aren’t here.
We told you. Repeatedly. Ha, you just didn’t listen.
Until folks get honest about that part, there’s nothing else to say. -
Oh. so this is the thread people have been talking about.@blogdiva It’s pretty hilarious how he has all this energy to step up for AI journalists, but I didn’t see him anywhere when Black folks were getting harassed off the fedi for years.
Especially considering he has direct contact and influence with the Masto team. -
It often feels like a lesson the fedi never learned is that it’s just as important to give energy to the things you want to see in the world as it is to the stuff you hate.It often feels like a lesson the fedi never learned is that it’s just as important to give energy to the things you want to see in the world as it is to the stuff you hate. Probably more important in these days and times.
Sure, there is plenty of stuff I could spend days ranting about because I have very strong feelings about a lot of things.
But what keeps me balanced is putting that level of energy or more into projects and efforts that stand in opposition to the things I am against.
The need for performing that angst fades the more action I take.
It seems like many people here feel like the performance is the point and not the action it should inspire if one really feels that strongly about it.
