I've been trying to figure out both Linux and Krita at the same time this week.@MillyPinkhams Thank you! I like to learn about other artist's techniques, both digital and traditional. I am learning how to use smudging to start a gesture drawing, from the leftover charcoal from sharpening. I'm guilty of bumping my charcoal dust off the side of my worktable. It's now a permanent feature of the carpet..
I'm looking for a way, in Krita, to smudge like you would with a rag. I guess I have to play with the pressure on the smudge tool. -

I tried working on this old pencil sketch of "Lord Richard", the 52 year old vulture at the Lindsey Wildlife Museum (that's actually his name). A few YouTube videos later, I was able to get the pencils to look ok, but still can't figure out smudging.
