@milagemayvary Oddly enough I always thought the opposite was true back in the day - shutdown/power-up cycles stressed the delicate components compared to leaving the computer on
Huge uptime numbers were a nice side-effect and great for humblebragging to friends, though!

Hey Mastodon!@milagemayvary Younger me would leave the PC on 24x7. Linux these days boots in about 20-25 seconds flat, so the only thing I'm gaining is higher power bill leaving it on while I'm asleep. Also feels good to do my little bit for the environment by shutting down when not in use.
