That's something that eludes me too, this utter blindness, this inability to think for oneself…
Sometimes it feels like The Matrix is real, and I took the red pill…
And what's with the worshipping of billionaire assholes?? 🤯

The one thing that I just fail to get, is that federation needs to be explained to people, when it's a concept that pretty much everyone is familiar with.
Have a (mobile) phone? You're federating. Have an email address? You're federating. Have an internet connection? That's federated.
People understand that you don't have to be on the same (mobile) phone network, with the same email provider, the same ISP, in order to communicate with others. Many daily services work, regardless of the provider you're with, where you can pick and choose and leave, without anything changing.
So why is it so insanely difficult to apply this concept to #XMPP messaging or anything on the #Fediverse?
It drives me crazy sometimes.

Apart from it being an utterly idiotic and ill-informed comment, what exactly was this person's problem?
Excellent response from you!

Because it's invisible. Unlike getting burgled, or their car having been broken into, it's not something they feel or witness. Until they do…

If that's the point they wanted to draw attention to, then they should've used actual images from the actual event.
All they've achieved instead is shifting the focus to the utterly unnecessary use of AI, and the untrustworthiness of their institution.
I care infinitely more about that than the 64 injured officers.

We should be 'glad' that they still bother posting any disclaimer, however teeny tiny, whatsoever. The next step is to just post AI generated content without disclaimers.
We live in an age where it's becoming harder and harder to tell truth from fiction, thanks to AI and people are willingly embracing it.
