AGI/Vista - "Desidero ricordare un amico, un protagonista della storia politica italiana, che seppe, con il suo impegno, con la sua capacità sempre legata ai metodi della democrazia e della libertà, cambiare in qualche modo la realtà politica italiana, dando vita a un partito territoriale che, in maniera significativa, ha caratterizzato la vicenda politica italiana di quegli anni. Proprio nell'Aula di Palazzo Madama, come in quella della Camera, lo abbiamo visto a lungo venire con passione in difesa della sua visione dell'Italia, del suo Nord, ma sempre consapevole che fosse necessario un confronto, che fosse necessario portare la sua visione nell'ambito delle istituzioni democratiche. Dal 2000 in poi riuscì a dar vita ad un asse importante, a una coalizione che ancora oggi è presente e che seppe confrontarsi con gli altri senza mai venire meno al rispetto e alla considerazione del suo e dell'altrui ruolo. Parleremo di Umberto la prossima settimana o quando i Gruppi decideranno, ma oggi non potevo esimermi dal ricordarlo in maniera commossa, affettuosamente e in maniera ufficiale.
