The public increasingly hates Flock, the odious surveillance operation, but public officials don't care. They pretend to dislike the grotesque abuses of privacy, but they keep renewing (and starting)contracts with the sleazy company. If it's in your town, raise hell.
City Learns Flock Accessed Cameras in Children's Gymnastics Room as a Sales Pitch Demo, Renews Contract Anyway
Residents of Dunwoody, Georgia are furious about the city's surveillance contract with Flock. Do their elected officials care?

More than raising hell, you never let them off the hook. There is a website up that can alert you to what your city council or nearby city council are doing.
Is I think an indispensable tool for communities to keep on top of the bullshit councils, mayors or police departments may engage in.
City councils can also be victims of enthusiastic police departments that go ahead and sign contracts with this company behind their backs. Ring is also a menace.

@dangillmor I use Flock for my business campus video security. I’m open to other options, but do not know of any comparable companies that offer visitor ID.
@Onlineadviser @dangillmor Tony, has flock delivered for your firm? Worth their fees?

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @dangillmor
I would like technical means for detection of these cameras
I am not in the USA. I am inexperienced with radio devices but have time and general technical knowledge
Are there resources on the Web tthat enumerate these devices and what yheir woreless signature and frequency?
We are infested here and I would like to fight back. Legally naturally.
Locating and identifying them is the first step

@dangillmor That’s some serious George Orwell stuff.

@Onlineadviser @dangillmor that feature is exactly one of the things we hate.

Since these cameras are mounted on street lights and any other pole in the US and they’re about the size of a bread box with its attendant solar panel, which is about the size of two sheets of standard paper in terms of surface area and painted black. it’s not hard to know where they are.
Public action to stop their installation is the best way. Because their installation is a violation of our basic right to solitude and privacy.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @dangillmor Here in Aotearoa they are mostly (AFAIK) run by private operators, networked, and made available to the cops for a price

@dangillmor It doesn't help that their CEO is a complete douche nozzle who loves to throw around words like "terrorist" when confronted with his company's criminal behavior. That and harassment of anyone who dares test his claims that the cameras are secure.
