@codinghorror It's cool and smooth and summer sailing on a sunny Sunday. Just can't get enough of that.

@codinghorror I average about 19 songs per day, but even I cannot give an answer under the given ruleset.

@Gargron yeah it's the "perfect album" metric I am going for, specifically

@codinghorror The closest I can give you is Casualties of Cool, which since last year I've started putting on before bed to calm me down, although it is by no means meant to be used that way as it is a very good album in its own right.

name a musical album you listen to, more or less, once every day. Strict ruleset. You REALLY listen to it every day, unless life intervenes, as it is wont to do

@codinghorror this is partially my son’s fault but we’re on a streak here of many months of Jon Batiste’s Beethoven Blues.

@codinghorror there have been stretches where I listen to an album once a day, but only for a few months.

I used to listen to Mingus’s Black Saint and the Sinner Lady every morning.

@codinghorror A friend introduced me to Sunset Mission by Bohren & Der Club Of Gore a few years back and it has become my go to album.

@codinghorror Even if an album is perfect, I would never play it every day.

@codinghorror Does a custom "album" count? I've got about 1000 tracks saved locally in my car & 99% of the time I just put it on random shuffle, hitting forward until I find something that fits my mood.

Haven't swapped any new tracks in / old tracks out in about a year. Already listened to parts of this "album" 3x today & I'll hit it again on the way home.

@codinghorror I've really only had one album I've listened to every day for months (although then I'd need a break), and that's Friends by The Beach Boys. It's Brian Wilson's nicest album, and lower maintenance for my brain than Pet Sounds or Smile. Works both as background music and as a focussed listening experience.

@codinghorror This was genuinely true of The Last Goodbye Tour Live by ODESZA in our household in 2024. It was a great record that pretty accurately reflected the show we saw, and the kids were *addicted* to it.
