Liberals are now considering privatizing airports.

The phrases "broadening ownership" and "getting full value of our assets" are doing a lot of ideological heavy lifting.

Translation: The things the public built together are being sold to people who can afford to buy them, and investors will extract rent from them forever.

Privatization is a transfer of wealth from everyone to someone.

@jpalmer When in reality, what they should be doing is legislating for maximum benefit to everyone.

Apologies to my followers for repeating, but...

Nationalize last-mile delivery to Canada Post. There's no reason that ten delivery trucks need to drive down the same road, multiple times a day, delivering mail, packages, etc. Turn gig-workers into full-time federal employees with good salaries and benefits. Reduce CO2 emissions. Reduce traffic, and wear-and-tear on city streets. Put the BrightDrop folks back to work by committing to electrify Canada Post's fleet of delivery vehicles. Built and host the IT infrastructure in Canada, not at a datacentre owned by American tech giants.
