@fribbledom glad to hear. Can you provide a source, please? Thanks!

@stvfrnzl It's because of the billing changes to copilot: https://techcrunch.com/2026/05/30/what-a-joke-github-copilots-new-token-based-billing-spurs-consternation-among-devs/

25x is a guesstimation probably. But it has gotten more expensive in general.

GitHub Copilot got 25x more expensive over night.

I just felt a great disturbance in the force, as if millions of low-effort PRs suddenly cried out and were silenced.

Maintainers worldwide breathe a sigh of relief. Businesses are about to wake up to some very interesting invoices.

@fribbledom We're slowly moving from "use AI for everything, use it as much as possible" to "hey hey hey, maybe first think, then ask AI"..

There was this page showing graphs of how much revenue each company brings and how much money they spend on providing "AI" and every single one of them was deeeeeply in the deficit.

@fribbledom I'm happy they're moving to realistic (?) pricing. It'll make for more intelligent decisions about what kind of jobs businesses want to hand over to AI and how much quality they expect for what they're paying. And on whether or not to switch to local LLMs running on local hardware. LLM co-op farms might become a thing.

          We live in interesting times.

I wonder if there's a Copilot to make those intelligent decisions. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜‰

Last week, I attended an online session for our devs on how to use Copilot efficiently - and the presenter literally said "Think before prompt" (as there already is a token limit)

I'm looking forward to when "Copilot" is the name for a product abandoned by MS and a linter for a yet to be invented programming language.

for sure.. but there are still many many examples of comanies that evaluate their employees by how much they utilize AI ๐Ÿ™‚ insane. But I guess that'll change quickly..

@pkotrcka_1 @fribbledom tell me... we are not (yet) officially rated by AI usage, but they set up a dashboard where you can track your AI usage and your line manager tracks the whole team.

Of course I'm deep in the red, but I'm also too old to really care.

@fribbledom Drug dealer's business model. They must have concluded that enough marks are hooked already.
