@radex Nah, for real though, I need to get rid of my older Macs finally, I'll leave one 2018 MBP just in case with Sequoia

@mackuba a friend of mine uses old laptops for home server stuff. They’re usually perfectly fast enough for that, and they have a built-in UPS which is nice.

@Flaky I mean, given the choice of only either Windows or Linux I'd definitely choose Linux

@mackuba hopefully Asahi will continue and M3-M5 will have good Linux support by the time those models retire from macOS duty. (I’m running nixos on an M1 Mac mini for arm64 builds and stuff, and it’s great)

@mackuba As someone who's been in the Linux sphere since 2010 at the very earliest... I'd rather Windows. Easier to tame if something goes wrong.

I have another friend who went from Linux to Windows because of problems he had.

@Flaky Last time I used Linux on a desktop full time was 2008… last time I used Windows full time was 2003

@radex I'm more of a VPS person than a homelab person tbh
(though I do have an RPi, just because it's cute) -

@mackuba Probably for the best, tbh. macOS can be a bit shaky but I'd still say it's in a better situation than those two. I remember seeing some people say they're going to go to Windows or Linux in protest of Liquid Glass and I was mentally screaming.
