can i just say something about #Colbert?

whomever negotiated his #CBS #labor & production contracts are geniuses.

have y’all noticed how, notwithstanding everything, they can't get rid of him outright?

Colbert must have nuclear options in his & his workers contracts that exponentially raise the costs of CBS getting rid of them under any circumstances.

this is only possible with the backing of labor #unions. Hollywood proves #unionization is the only path to wealth for the working classes.

@blogdiva Very much so. I have to admit, I'm looking forward to seeing how the show winds down and how Colbert et all will be giving the powers that be a really, really rough time as he exits.

@WTL @blogdiva it is a very delicate act: he can’t firebomb the place on his exit, he’s not Tucker Carlson.

He needs to be able to work again in a system that is owned by fewer and fewer companies, and that is doing a sharp turn to the right. If he’s not careful, he may end up in the periphery, like Conan O’Brian, Samantha Bee and so many others.

I’m sad about the rest of the people that work in the show: they will have a hard time finding a job like that one.

@blogdiva Absolutely. Although I haven't worked in the industry for a number of years (and honestly may never again), I still pay my SAG-AFTRA dues every 6 months, because I believe in having the strongest possible union.

@blogdiva Indeed, when Kimmel's network tried to pull him off the air, it was immediate--the wrong people were mad, so they just yanked him.

@blogdiva I don't quite get all of this, but I do find it amusing to point to Hollywood big shots as examples of the working class.

@wtrmt @blogdiva I think the staff will land new jobs quickly; they're obviously all at the top of the game.
