    This is also why I have a problem with new emojis, especially a lot of the ones here. I know what a smiling face or a crying face is, but what the heck is a blobcatlove?

          @Fragglemuppet yeah, the names for custom emoji can be too self-referential. it's an overlooked accessibility issue.

          if you're curious: for a few years in the 2010s there was a line of face emoji on android phones where instead of a yellow circle with a face on it you'd have this yellow blob, like an upended cup of jello. "blobcat" is a style of custom emoji that puts cat ears and whiskers on those blobs, and "blobcatheart" specifically is a yellow cat-eared blob holding a big red emoji heart.

              @gladdecease @Fragglemuppet

              Thanks from me, too! ❤️

              I've seen several different blobcat emoji but I had no idea where the concept came from! I've never seen any of the original blob emoji (or maybe I have but don't remember, or didn't know the name)
