    The remarkable development cuts short the roughly nine-year sentence that #TinaPeters, a former county clerk in Mesa County, #Colorado, was given after being convicted in 2024 for her role in a brazen plot to “examine” [tamper with] voting machines under her control after the #2020election. Peters had tried to prove that the machines had been used to rig the contest against #Trump.

    In an interview at the Colorado State Capitol, the governor said his commutation was not an attempt to placate #Trump [sure], who has leveled a barrage of #funding cuts & #policy attacks at #Colorado in a hostile effort to free #TinaPeters.

    Instead, Polis said he believed that Peters, a nonviolent first-time offender, had received too harsh a sentence because of her embrace of #ConspiracyTheories about Trump’s 2020 election loss. [cuz yeah, who cares about #democracy]

        Gov. #JaredPolis, a #Democrat 🖕🏻🖕🏻🖕🏻, commuted the sentence of Peters, a former county clerk serving a 9-year sentence for her role in a plot to tamper with voting machines after the #2020election.

        @Nonilex We've been saying for awhile now that Polis is a traitor to his party and to the people. This just puts the icing on the cake.

          The 'law' is no more.

          What was a tattered USA sweat top to begin with is now little more than a rag in the gutter.

            Every first-time offender in Colorado should argue that they were deceived by conspiracy theories and therefore get no jail time!

              @Nonilex

              CO. Gov. Polis's lame rationale for why he commuted the sentence of Tina Peters for voter fraud does little to convince anyone it wasn't to appease Trump.

                    @Nonilex Her sentence should have been life without parole for screwing with the constitutional rights of others.

                        @Nonilex Too harsh a sentence for *trying to overthrow the government*, not “embracing conspiracy theories.”

                        Whether she believed it was real or not is irrelevant-she knowingly and willingly conspired to overturn an election. Full stop.

                        That’s like saying she got too harsh a sentence for murdering her husband because she thought he was a lizard man. It’s still murder…

                        Hopefully her conviction will at least prevent her from being near any future elections…
