We use Gravatar (a service that allows you to have the same profile picture on many sites).
When your profile picture is requested, we send that request through a proxy. This means your personal data is never exposed to Gravatar.
Your IP address, user agent, and referrer header are never sent to any third parties.We have baked privacy into every little part of Plausible.

@plausible even better would be not to reveal to Gravatar (Automattic) that somebody is a user/customer of Plausible in the first place. If Plausible isn't caching the image, they can even derive more tracking related information, like activity.
INAL, but I am not sure if proxying requests is enough to be GDPR compliant (unless you ask for explicit consent).
