The CRSP fund will be required to add SpaceX within five days of IPO, and will be weighted at a float adjusted approx $100 Billion, so it will become about 1% of the fund initially. However, due to the accelerated lock-up expiration schedule (https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/spacex-ipo-lock-structure-lets-140626263.html) the index will continue to be required to add SpaceX as the float increases from insider selling.

The S&P 500 is likely changing its 'fast track' rules too, but not as aggressively as CRSP. We will know on June 8. This fund is not expected add SpaceX for six months. It is expected that the float weighting will be similar, so by then SpaceX is expected to be weighted higher. Hard to know how it will shake out.

Told them this undermines the very principle of index fund investing as conservative and managed risk, principles they have championed over the years. They said they understood, but their hands were tied.
Asked they use their influence to push back on the rule changes and requested inclusion in any legal actions against the indexes and/or SpaceX.
They said they were getting a lot of such requests, and would pass it along.

Yeah, this shit sucks so badly.
The filthy disgusting dirty super rich are not satisfied with hundreds of billions of dollars of net worth. They have to come and pillage the rest of us so one of them can become a trillionaire..
It’s not gonna stop with SpaceX because every AI company is aiming for an IPO because they need some more money to keep the scam going on

This is precisely the issue. This mega-cap IPO 'fast track' grift loophole will not end with SpaceX. The indexes have opened up the vault and invited these thieves in to scoop up as much as they can carry.

If you want to get really mad, watch this mealy mouthed interview with NASDAQ CEO Nelson Griggs. The smug bastard knows just what he is doing...

@mastodonmigration There is a huge amount of money socked away in S&P index funds. So there are probably a lot of wealthy people that don't want this scheme either. I expect lots of pushback. I don't know the details, but it seems like a trumpian way to make the stock market look better for him.

@mastodonmigration It's that generational wealth concept. Wealthy families have plans for keeping their generational wealth. I will bet that much of that is in index funds.

Excellent point. You are probably right. Expect we are just beginning to see the reaction. They are trying to bum rush this through. It may not go as smoothly as they hope.
