@InfosecStuC this logic is puzzling. 1 USamerican got sick on a USamerican boat while being in the waters of Greenland. He needed evacuation to be treated. This seems to jolt the as you say "hearts & minds" action to send the health rescue, Greenland does not need. 1 Soldier = 1 totally superfluous "rescue health boat". This is not even "using a sledgehammer to crack a nut" because there is no nut - just the sledgehammer wildly thrown out the window. @randahl

Though you are absolutely right pointing out the absurdity. There is no such thing as free healthcare. Taxpayers fund it and mostly pay a lot more to cover non-taxpayers then they would just paying their own bills. I spend thousands of euros a year on this so called 'free' healthcare.

@randahl Maybe you should think about the strategy behind this. It's obvious there is more to this. Maybe he's preparing for US soldiers being wounded. Or somebody b ing hurt. Maybe the hospital is a rude and will be filled with soldiers. Think a few steps ahead

@Ilka4You my point: it depends how long the hospital ship is stationed there, lets say 6 months, that might be 700 referrals that would otherwise go to Denmark that could be taken care of nearer home.

Of course the situation is a little more complicated than that, as to fly from one area to another in Greenland you may need to take flights via Denmark anyway - only a third of the population lives in Nuuk.

I agree, it's total Bullshit, the question for me is, does it bring Trump, arch Populist that he is, nearer to his goal of persuading Greenland's citizens that joining the US is a good idea?

Not to forget, that It also puts the DK or Greenlandic governments in the awkward position of refusing "help."

Currently the Mercy's is showing as in Mobile. The Comfort's transponder has been silent for 17 Days - so it may be underway with one of the task forces.

IDK It could all just be Trump living rent free in our heads again by flooding the zone. Probably this.

@randahl I just read the two hospital boats we have are in dry dock for repairs and that there was a US sub off the coast of Greenland that had a medical emergency for a sailor that the Danish navy rescued and took to a hospital. It seems Trump is confused by this.

That's under the control of Congress; THEY are the ones doing the depriving. They did before he came along, even before he was born. Congress also has the last word on public health infrastructure.
