3rd party remote for DJI action camera: 1/3rd the price of DJI's remote, no GPS, and longer battery life. It'll wake cam, start/stop video or take photo, change mode, and put cam to sleep. Velcro straps for attaching to handlebar. Not field tested yet.

#BikeTooter #DJIActionAdditional observations:
* turning off remote means it will not connect to "sleeping" camera when you turn it back on. The camera needs to be turned on/woken up manually, then remote will connect with bluetooth and functions work normally.
* holding "rec" button down for 3 seconds puts camera to sleep, but camera will do that automatically and probably more reliably if left idle
* changing modes is strange, since hitting button appears to put it in Photo mode by default and the audio cues don't help you hear what mode, only that something changed. You'd probably not use this.NOTE: this company makes two versions. One looks universal since it shows a list of GoPro and Insta360 action cameras, but it doesn't include DJI (pity). They have specific version for DJI, both look identical.

Ride testing results:

Mounted on handlebar with velcro, it was about 25Β°F (-4C) outside. I turned it on, got it connected to action cam, start video recording, but within a short time it would be off, which meant I couldn't stop recording. This happened a few times. Battery is on the back near mount, 150mAh. Put in pocket partway through ride and tried it when back to car and it connected and didn't turn off, probably 5-10Β°F warmer (above freezing).
One solution is wear on wrist like a watch. A thick watch, 20mm vs. apple watch at 12mm. Chunky.
