    @intrepidhero @NorcalGma2 Taking care of your feet, especially if you are ALWAYS out hiking/etc. really pays off.

      I know this isn't a big thing to anyone but me but.
      These hiking shoes finally made it out of my closet and on to the trail.
      I have been wearing a pair of boots that supported me hiking hundreds of miles in national park adventures for years.
      I kept wearing my old boots long after they were worn out. Hanging on to them even when I could feel every sharp rock through the soles.
      Summer finally asked what I was saving the new shoes for? She gently reminded me that treating my feet to new comfortable shoes is a good thing and not wasteful or indulgent.
      So this morning my feet are much happier and I am reminded that there's no good reason to save anything for a special occasion anymore.
      Waking up everyday is a special occasion.

          @NorcalGma2

          Those boots look great!

          And yes, the saving things for best... Such a hard habit to break, for those of us who grew up poor

          I have a hard time with it

            @NilaJones @NorcalGma2

            My newest walking boots are still in the box. I don't know what I thought I was saving them for.

            Time to get 'em out and lace 'em up!

                @NorcalGma2 Such a good lesson for us all. I've been trying to use good things (or give them to someone who WILL use them). All those dishes that need to be washed by hand? No more - into the dishwasher no matter what or OUT

                  @NorcalGma2 Good that you listened to Summer. The sole on my last hiking boots peeled right off 7 km from my car. I had to shuffle all of those kms back, dragging the almost fully-detached sole slowly under my hiking sock.

                  Mine were so close to that. I could feel every pebble.

                    @NorcalGma2 Good on you!
                    When I purge it seems all my stuff multiplies.
                    As I put myself through a long academic goal towards becoming a licensed professional I built a new wardrobe. Health issues brought that to a sudden halt during my last big requirement-internship. I can still sit for the exam & just might, but I am happy where I am, professionally.
                    Now I need to donate that wardrobe Iโ€™ve been saving. Lots of cute shoes, too but you have inspired me to wear my unworn shoes ๐Ÿ™‚

                      @RiaResists
                      I had closets full of suits and dresses from my many years of office work. Tons of shoes too.
                      I boxed it all up and shipped it to my sister when I retired who sold it to supplement her income. It was good to let go. I kept a very few things just in case I have to attend a solemn occasion.
