@4d3fect @jnow They own Oracle. So basically the entire backbone of the internet. As a result, they also own the Java programming language, which gets pushed into universities, creating a dependency for new programmers. They own a death grip on multimedia and are literally inescapable. Even if you're just reading books, they have their tentacles in that too.

@4d3fect @jnow Just to bring this back around, Oracle has been using Java as a blunt tool for political suppression. There was a recent case where they were suing someone for about 8 lines of unpublished code for an android port of some software. It was unpublished, meaning they didn't actually use the code. But it wasn't being used to protect IP, it was used to silence political opposition. They fought it all throughout the Obama years, until Trump's admin finally won oracle the case.

@4d3fect Enlightenment was the name of a very popular linux Desktop environment, which of course ties into the attempt to kill open source software because it can't be controlled by this very conglomerate. I'll keep tying everything you post back to this, fyi.
EDIT: The far right is waging most of this culture war because they believe Jesus Fucking Christ will usher in the apocalypse. This is a biblical thing for them.
