The UK Prime Minister announces helicopters will be sent to Cyprus for drone defense, along with a military ship. A display of global reach from a nation seemingly eager to solve everyone else's problems.

Perhaps the issue is that Britain hasn't experienced war on its own soil for generations. When your own streets are safe, you project power elsewhere. When you have no urgent domestic crises visible from Westminster, you create relevance abroad.

Meanwhile, the actual problems of British citizens remain unfunded and unaddressed. Foreign intervention always gets the budget. Domestic infrastructure always gets the cuts.
