Ruspe, motoseghe, e alberi che cadono, uno dopo l’altro. Venerdì 6 marzo all’alba è caduto l’ultimo bosco golenale della Valle Isarco, nel Comune di Bressanone. La notizia è stata data dal Wwf Trentino-Alto Adige, che ha denunciato quanto successo: “Il bosco ripariale era rimasto lì, quasi per miracolo, circondato su tre lati dalla zona industriale, custode di un mondo che altrove è già scomparso da decenni”. Per sua natura, si tratta di un’area che protegge gli argini, protegge la biodiversità, funge da corridoio ecologico. E infatti “sulla sommità degli abeti ogni anno nidificavano dalle 9 alle 13 coppie di airone cenerino. 64 le specie di uccelli osservate in quest’area, di cui 29 nidificanti e 7 inserite nella Lista Rossa degli animali in pericolo. Sette specie di chirotteri. Tre specie di rettili che richiedono tutte una protezione rigorosa secondo la normativa comunitaria a causa della loro rarità e rischio di scomparsa”.
Al posto del bosco sorgeranno capannoni industriali e parcheggi. In passato la comunità locale aveva cercato di fermare il progetto attraverso petizioni, catene umane, mozioni, ricorsi. Ma intanto l’Amministrazione è andata avanti.

Rushes, excavators, and falling trees, one after another. On Friday, March 6th at dawn, the last riparian forest of the Isarco Valley, in the municipality of Bressanone, collapsed. The news was given by WWF Trentino-Alto Adige, which denounced what happened: “The riparian forest had remained there, almost by miracle, surrounded on three sides by the industrial zone, custodian of a world that has already disappeared for decades elsewhere.” By nature, it is an area that protects the banks, protects biodiversity, serves as an ecological corridor. And indeed “on the summit of the fir trees, between 9 and 13 pairs of grey heron nested every year. 64 bird species were observed in this area, of which 29 nested and 7 were included in the Red List of endangered animals.” Seven species of bats. Three species of reptiles that all require strict protection according to EU regulations due to their rarity and risk of extinction.

In place of the forest, industrial sheds and parking lots will rise. In the past, the local community had tried to stop the project through petitions, human chains, motions, and lawsuits. But in the meantime, the Administration continued.
