During the great recession, I survived by doing bicycle newspaper routes at 5 in the morning. That is a time when many neighborhood cats are excited to find a human awake and friendly!
I had a cat myself, whose hobby was hanging out under a bush next to the sidewalk and meowing at people to be petted. Because she was a poor pitiful lonely kitty

@NilaJones I'm going to have to start leaving earlier

@rufustheduck Awwww

@sindarina you can say that again

This is not my cat
I made friends with her when I was cycling home from work - in a little square by an apartment block
Now I stop off every day to say hello. She recognises the sound of my keys as I lock up my bike, and comes out meowing and bumping her head against my hand
I feel very lucky to have several cat friends in London, who I visit regularly during my long commute
@rufustheduck aww, beautiful!

@rufustheduck We have a neighbor cat that roams through our back yard for a short cut and stops for belly rubs.
