    2 hours later, the paddle boat is still there. For sure stuck.
    I'm sure the dinghy's were taking the passengers off previously.

      @Jeneric Official statement on the Edmonton Riverboat says it didn't run aground, the captain intentionally beached it to keep it from drifting after losing propulsion due to a mechanical failure. And yes, fire & rescue crews evacuated passengers by boat:

      Edmonton Riverboat gets stuck during Mother's Day cruise | CBC News

      About 200 people aboard the Edmonton Riverboat Sunday afternoon were stranded during a Mother's Day cruise after the boat stopped moving near Scona Road and 99B Street.

      Not quite the Mother's Day cruise people had signed up for, but hopefully a good story to tell, with no one reported hurt.

        @AmeliasBrain @Jeneric wow, they are lucky they didn't end up floating downstream to Halifax via Saskatoon, Winnipeg, big portage into Lake Superior, Sault St. Marie, Windsor, Niagara, Montreal and Quebec. It's a long swim back to Edmonton.

          @johnefrancis @Jeneric I'm sure an even more immediate concern was being boarded by those notorious North Saskatchewan pirates!

            @johnefrancis @AmeliasBrain
            I’m very sorry, but I need to offer some geographical correction.
            After Saskatoon, one would drift through Prince Albert, and then to Cranberry Portage in Manitoba. From there, if they smashed through the narrow bits, they would end up in the Nelson River out to Hudson’s Bay.
