@alice ah crap, I didn't know that. But sure enough, Thin Blue Line in the logo, that is one hell of a dog whistle there.
Luckily we got @deviantollam and https://www.redteamtools.com/.
Hopefully the Learn About Lockpicking Set is back in stock soon, all the #learnlockpickingwithalice has got me hyped again
@thasl @alice @deviantollam oh yes Red Team Tools, I still think the colour options on the deadbolt safety strap are *chef's kiss*.
-
@alice TIL, thanks.
-
@alice @StarkRG oh. I had a bad feeling about them for quite some time, there were some bad vibes from the way LPL talked about his wife a few times, then McNally who's another Covert Instruments person and his videos are a bit too edgy in a creepy way... Didn't exactly expect them to be pro Trump though. Thanks for saying that

@Dany @thasl @alice @deviantollam
"Pastel", for cis reasons -

@alice If I may ask, what is the problem with a blue line in a logo? Afaik, the logo hasn't changed recently.

@thasl @alice indeed, there was also this recent Bluesky post, where I saw that a former employee of mine was apparently on the mailing list for a big Nazi business in Omaha...
Deviant Ollam ツ (@deviantollam.bsky.social)
Sigh. Former employee of ours used his work email address to sign up for all kinds of crap and we still get those emails sometimes. Gotta love seeing a promotional email from a gun range that opted to name themselves "88 Tactical" 🙄

Can We Please Stop Pretending about the Nazi Fortress Outside Omaha Now? - Seeing Red
If you approach Omaha from the west on I-80, one of the first landmarks to greet you is a fortress with a large tower sporting a logo for 88 Tactical, a gun boner megacenter that offers a suite of classes, activities, and products for police and wannabe police. And if you can’t quite muster a […]

@alice I've read the rest of the posts, and was just unsure about the thin blue line. For CI, they've added it to the logo on the 7th of October 2021.
The ambiguity is the point of dog whistles, and like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I'm not in the tacticool crowd, and thus never bothered with their gear.
-
@alice well piss. I didnt know but guess there people I never touch again
Thanks

@alice Law enforcement is a respectable job and is the military. As long as you do so for the people, not for personal title. I don't have much against Rob's bio, except that it is written to impress, with many big names.
I don't want to be in the same game, but for fun I should write out which large companies I've taught lockpicking. Statistically must be a few spooks I've taught...
-
@alice I read that as Continuous Integration.
And I agree with you in both interpretations.
-
@alice I agree with you. As I'm not from the USA, there is a distance to the subject.
Reporter @locuta has daily reports with up to 50 'actions' happening in the USA. I've read the book and most of the first year content, but I've decided to focus on things I can change, and only check it once in a while.
I hope it will get better for you and the rest of the USA soon, and that alliances like NATO may hold many more years.
-
@alice oof thanks for the background knowledge! I feel yucky about my small CI kit. Time to sort that out.
-
@alice Great to meet you. I've not been much abroad the past few years, and I've not yet been in the USA.
I've joined Toool in the Netherlands about a decade ago, and frequently teach at all kinds of security conferences. ~10 a year, or so, some years.

Of course.
