What evil looks like,
depends on who is talking,
to some, you can tell by
the books they read or
the clothes they wear,
or where they came from.
Some you can spot because
their skin is not the same as ours.
It's harder to spot the ones
we are told about in the news
that want to be different,
not how they were born,
but they are dangerous.
Evil is always over there,
them,
the ones who are different,
not like us.
Or not like you,
I want to say.
Evil can be all the things
you chat about,
nod in murmered agreement at,
and see on TV.
But it can be inside.
It can be in the mirror,
at work, in the canteen,
in the pub.
You grow it and feed it
and make it so powerfull
that people believe it,
even you.
But not me.
I know evil,
and it looks and sounds
like all of us,
when we stop understanding,
and subscribe. -
