The UK sees the 'reset' as focussing on strategic areas where there is some benefit to (re)engaging the EU.
What the EU sees is the continuation of a long term policy of cherry-picking and 'having our cake & eating it'.... for the EU the benefits of EU membership come *with* membership!

@ChrisMayLA6 It's yet more of the British political class's inflated view of their own importance and of the UK's importance.
The same thing has been visible this week with Rory Stewart and Alistair Campbell getting worked up about the UK having only one ship available for the Iran War. Declining former empire no longer in big league shocker
