Given that running a separate PDS is a much higher barrier than firing up so many [other] fediverse instance types, I wonder how much that serves as a filter for a threshhold level of cooperation & commitment?

so often "easy" reads as "better"

so much so that people get angry about gatekeeping and so on

is putting up an ATproto PDS, in effect, a corporate team-building exercise?

And I'm sure the breakdown on who will actually acknowledge the reasons for that "coincidentally" matches 99% of the vote-split on the UN Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans and the Racialised Chattel Enslavement of Africans as the Gravest Crime Against Humanity, and of course for the same reasons.
