the hype-dudes have **always** said this, from the very beginning when it was "you're prompting it wrong"

fuck off, everyone is sick of this.

@peter and basically the same post, even down to the same formula and talking points, keeps getting posted every year. gotta wonder if an LLM is itself churning them out at this point

Is AI time like dog years? 2 human years is 14 years of AI time 🤔

two weeks ago, the latest, best, most whiz-bang ChatGPT model told me it's impossible to include non-Python files in a Python package.

@peter yay it still generates too much text for a human to read responsibly (if your intent is to get information or learn something). ChatGPT generated text in anything is too pointless to consume.

@peter lol someone in one of my group chats posted the “something big is coming” article today with a message of “omg you guys, everyone needs to read this”. I have since responded with the Garbage Day from yesterday plus Zitron’s annotations

@peter I feel that people that use ChatGPT and other LLMs are not focused on the reader, but the deliverable. Be it an assignment with a word count, a poem they want to post but have no talent, or a report that is due that they want to do the "easy" way. All these point to functional laziness and likely leads to cognitive decline because you're not using your brain. It let's them say "Here, I have complied with the response you are seeking."

@VE7WYC absolutely. i think the problem is they view the deliverable as the written object, when in fact the deliverable is the **thought that went into** the written object. that's what writing is: it's not words on a page, it's thought. writing without thought is worthless. what they are providing is a facsimile of the deliverable.

@peter the AI generated video to promote OpenAI at the Super Bowl, which was probably reviewed by who knows how many people before it aired, couldn't even set up a chess board correctly
