@CuratedHackerNews maybe I'm overthinking this. But if the first tick box in a tech job is good pay, maybe the priorities are wrong all along.

I agree, pay needs to be good enough for a decent living. But for me tick box 1 is: is the job about something that I'm passionate about? If that disappears, I'm gone.

@CuratedHackerNews Years ago I was starting to hate the IT world.
Turns out it was just burnout, decided to switch to just first line support, with zero responsibilities, and I couldn't be happier.

Of course I won't earn as a sys admin or as a programmer, but the peaceful life cannot be paid.

I love IT, and I rather change jobs than do something that makes me hate it.

P.S. LLMs and Gen AI are the asbestos of the IT world, and I can't wait for the day everyone sees it and moves to despise it
