I learned two things this weekend. One is that Samsung refrigerator/freezers have a “Demo Mode” where everything seems to be running normally, but all the actual cooling functions have been disabled. And the other is that you can activate this mode by leaning against the door the wrong way
@jalefkowit Yikes! Hope you caught it before having to throw out a month’s supply of food.

@jalefkowit when we moved into our house it had a shiny new Samsung washer and dryer. I hate them so much.

@jalefkowit Our microwave is under the counter and I've found that thing in demo mode 3 times in the 5 months that we've been in this house.

@jalefkowit Samsung fridges suck! FisherPrice could do a better job!

@jalefkowit @floatybirb
I believe I did that once years ago when we had a Samsung fridge

@jalefkowit@vmst.io I do still think smart fridges could be useful (I like the idea of those LG ones where you can see inside without opening the door)
but I think I can see why people are hesitant

@jalefkowit are the features hidden behind a paywall?

@jalefkowit when the point of an appliance is to be sold, not to be used

Of course things change. For instance, they wouldn't cover the cost of the lost groceries now.
