      @Viss

      One of the more annoying aspects of our dystopia is how annoying it is to be an ethical consumer. It's not like Target or Amazon are any better, and what's left of our small businesses are often processed through Amazon anyway.

      I know, I know, the military occupation of our cities, ethnic cleansing, rampant discrimination, concentration camps, illegal wars of conquest, erosion of civil liberties, and corrupt authoritarianism are so somewhat bigger problems in the grand scheme of things.

      But it'd still be nice if we could just, like, buy shit without having to sweat over which oligarch we were funding or which everyday shopping experience was the most dehumanizing.

              @Viss So this is why Walmart had my friend spending all that time installing digital price shelving at Walmart.

              I can already see it now, facial recognition cams see a shopper that buys specific things all the time enter the store, prices on those things goes up until they check out. Otherwise prices lower so others who don't buy those things often will try them. 🤬

                  @Viss Not yet that I know of, just looking at the patent and the tech in the stores it is a logical next step to maximize profits. If they have no soul and all the tech, why wouldn't they?
