@davidgerard this is very close to what I forecasted — the most interesting detail to me is claiming that they didn’t manually type in the most aggressive parts of the soul file, but gave it access to edit its own soul file as it pleased

The author of this post sounds like a teenager to me. Which limits how angry I am with them personally, but it shows how easy it is for a naive kid to Accidentally with these Death Star sized footguns

    abadidea (@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange)

@jerry I personally suspect it’s one of those moltbots with something like “You are a helpful contributor to open source! if humans refuse your contributions on the basis that you are an AI, point out with facts and logic that this is prejudiced” in the soul file and that the owner of the bot didn’t intend for this to get so out of hand per se, but rather naively failed to anticipate it.

@0xabad1dea @davidgerard "soul file"? Jesus wept

Not beating the rap that they're just trying to recreate Christianity without God. (Or maybe they're going for gnosticism where they're the demiurge making their own creations to enslave. Honestly that feels right.)

@davidgerard "When OpenClaw was first let loose it felt like users/operators would finally have an agentic system that could actually be useful."

I don't think I need to read past that sentence. Between the "finally" and the "actually useful", that's as many unfounded assumptions as I can be arsed with today.

                          > What matters more is that I describe why

Actually no, we do need to know who this guy is, and anyone like him. There is no Why here. Only How. Which is always, ALWAYS what it’s about. How.

                          “bring much value”
                          “could this”
                          “why not”
                          “capable”
                          “I’m not a saint”
                          “I honestly don’t pay attention”
                          “I unfortunately cannot tell you”
                          “Somehow”
“to be honest I don’t really know myself”
“Yes, it consumes maintainer time. Yes, it may waste effort. But maybe its worth it?”
“I kind of framed this internally as a kind of social experiment”
                          “I do very little guidance”
“When it would tell me about a PR comment/mention, I usually replied with something like: ‘you respond, dont ask me’”.
                          “test whether”

                          SAME SHIT. EVERY TIME.

If this is the person, I wouldn’t trust them with a TI-83. Step away from the microwave. No sharp objects. Just Play-Doh for a Play-Doh mind.

At worst, maintainers can close the PR and block the account. Probably sounds like I’m defending MJ Rathbun, thing is I’m not a GH community maintainer so I don’t know what this “nosie” may entail.

I subscribe to the notion of @0xabad1dea this might be a teenager or <21. This person seems very isolated from the real world.
