    As another round of "We have AI'd another thing!" messages circulates around work, I have come to realize that my biggest, most visceral dislike of AI comes from how enthusiastically masturbatory the whole goddamn thing is. We burned vast amounts of resources to build a thing that could do... something, and now we can use that thing we built to do... stuff. Nothing actually *useful* in any meaningful sense, and definitely nothing within a half dozen orders of magnitude of sensible ROI.
