    Has anyone done the latter? My mom did and relayed that it was very uncomfortable and painful, but she is prone to exaggeration. I'd appreciate any additional experiences so that I am not fearing something that isn't a big deal.

      @AncTreat5358
      Will, I'm not certain of the terminology, but I think that is the procedure I had in 2010 before I had hiatal hernia surgery.

      As an outpatient in the doc's office, they run a very thin tube through your nose and down your throat to measure acid. It wasn't painful at all, just uncomfortable, especially the insertion/removal. You wear a tiny recording device while it's in place.

      Here's a photo of me with it in place. DM if questions.

        Not even *that* uncomfortable, it's just unfamiliar to feel something way in the back of your throat.

          As an update, I finally had the two procedures done today. Tomorrow at noon I get the 24 hour test tube removed.

          It went extremely well! I involuntarily swallowed a couple times, but the technician was very reassuring. The only time I choked was on the second test, where it accidentally went into lungs instead of stomach.
