    Does the US have a newspaper of record anymore? Or any other journalism-adjacent source?

    If so, what do you think it is?

      Currently thinking about New York Times, Ground.news, and a state-specific journalism effort I've been following for more local info. With maybe The Atlantic thrown in as a source.

      But I don't know if any of these serve as a newspaper of record. Maybe the NY Times. Maybe.

        @djwfyi I don't think so honestly, I think indie media is probably the best bet. Too many of the major news outlets have been gobbled up by billionaires and neutered.

          @djwfyi
          I don't trust The New York Times now after subscribing for years: ivory tower, both-sides waffling.

          I currently trust The Guardian's US edition more than any US-based newspaper for national news. It's not all-encompassing, but ProPublica is doing some of the most important US reporting today. Atlantic, yes, plus The New Yorker, PBS and NPR. I pay for/support all these for news.

          @guardian
          @ProPublica
          @TheAtlantic
          @NewYorker
          @PBSNewsHour
          @NPR

            @djwfyi NYT was worse about “sanewashing” Trump than WaPo is. I quit them before the damn election.

            The closest I’ve come is finding independent journalists and following them via social networks.
