@pwloftus well, the fries aren’t like McD’s fries. I’d say they did keep up the texture, tho (a few loose fries were always there when you got the sammich so you could compare). And that with vinegar-based Cole slaw also on it.

In Texas Mexican (and Tex-Mex), fried potatoes in tacos and burritos is perfectly normal.

Interesting. Of course, the potential range for burritos is infinite.

They kind of do pull it off.

As a Californian, I initially thought who the hell thinks we eat this? We definitely don't. I only learned about it from people writing about it.

That said, a Sandwiche Americain is something we found in France that no American ever came up with. It's a whole baguette stuffed with steak and fries, maybe some mayo sauce. Okay, these foods compliment each other and when you're traveling, sometimes an absurd amount of food is just what you need.

@EricBono @pwloftus @GayDeceiver what? American's totally had that idea. it's a known thing in Pittsburgh. Maybe not a whole baguette though.

@GayDeceiver it's quite good. I also did some pearl-clutching when I first heard of it, but I was converted pretty quick.

"Tacos trompos al pastor hawaiano": which have a disputed origin but definitely somewhere in Mexico. I refuse to get involved in someone else's internal cultural disputes; but I learned to cook them from a chef from Monterrey.

Pork done with a pineapple juice, vinegar, and chili marinade; cooked on a Middle Eastern style vertical rotisserie, then served with sweet-salty ham and grilled pineapple chunks.

@GayDeceiver seems like a Mexican (or tex-mex) ripoff of what I believe in the UK is called a 'chip butty', aka a French fry sandwich. I'm down - throw some refritos, guacamole and pico de gallo on there for the win!

There's a place in town that does them, side stuff includes pickled red onion, pico, and smoked jalapeños
