It also has a sort of sour cream sauce I've never seen elsewhere. I finally broke down and tried one while I was on a bike ride. I think of it as super food now. Definitely not my usual order though.

As a Californian, I initially thought who the hell thinks we eat this? We definitely don't. I only learned about it from people writing about it.

That said, a Sandwiche Americain is something we found in France that no American ever came up with. It's a whole baguette stuffed with steak and fries, maybe some mayo sauce. Okay, these foods compliment each other and when you're traveling, sometimes an absurd amount of food is just what you need.

Where I live you can get a "London Pizza", which is chips and garlic sauce on a cheese pizza.

@PetraPhoenix @GayDeceiver In Aberdeen in the early 2000s we used to get a deep fried pizza supper, it was £2 I think and fed 2 students who had just been surfing in the north sea with plenty to spare, it was a thing to behold.

Wat…? As a Californian and eater of many burritos I can say that ain’t normal. Yeah you can put anything you want in a burrito and potatoes are often in vegetarian burritos, but french fries sounds like something that was a one off menu item in a CalMex fusion restaurant.

In Texas Mexican (and Tex-Mex), fried potatoes in tacos and burritos is perfectly normal.
