@coleens_ I remember well when Jesse Jackson ran for Prez in 1984. I was 19 (and naive enough to believe what I read in Time. Newsweek, WSJ, and the local paper). Dad and I had this long conversation about whether the US was "ready" for a "Black President". NGL, it was a huge disappointment-- and resounding affirmation of its being a racist trope-- when the same shit got flung up in 2008... 24 years later.

We did not deserve him, but sometimes, the universe does a solid.
