      Canada & EU? not actually impossible.
      ‘Canada would certainly qualify’

      Giselle Bosse, professor of EU external democracy support at Maastricht University:

      “called Canadians “special Europeans, in a way” for reasons including their belief in the welfare state, their political and legal systems being based on European models and many Canadians having continental ancestry.”

      Could Canada join the EU? Unlikely … but not impossible.

      EU scholars say Canada has the right vibe for Brussels — but there would be some major hurdles blocking a membership bid.

        @pinhman

        My initial reaction is that I'm not outright opposed... there are a lot of things I like about the EU. My major concern is that the EU's current structure gives people like Orbán a veto in too many areas. Thus I'd want to see actual details before forming a firm opinion.
