@whitequark the worst part is ... why are the breakable bits plated...
-
@charlotte so it doesn't flop when you move the server
the ssd in mine doesn’t even have a screw in and it works fine being moved. skill issue

@dramforever why not? you do save a miniscule amount of gold but this isn't a volume product

@whitequark @dramforever that whole site is incredible. I think I missed my calling in life designing cursed boards for the cottage industry of niche hardware adapters -
At least they picked an appropriate name?
"Bplus Technology Co., Ltd."
Not: Aplus Technology Co., Ltd.
At least they're not: Cminus Technology Co., Ltd.? Though morbid curiosity has me wondering what their designs and the corollary Dminus Technology Co., Ltd. and F Technology Co., Ltd. might be desperately trying to sell to unwitting buyers?

@charlotte @whitequark there also is a break-off part holding your SSD depending on which length format you use 🫣

@whitequark seems much less cursed than the old school hard cards, which just bolted a 3.5” spinning drive to an ISA card and hoped for the best
-
@charlotte @whitequark there also is a break-off part holding your SSD depending on which length format you use 🫣
that part is imo reasonable depending on how much clearance your card has

@mxk especially since i don’t think i have ever seen an m.2 22110

Anyway, we have you covered for this very common problem! Bplus Technology Co: we make all your BPlus products a reality."

@mxk especially since i don’t think i have ever seen an m.2 22110
@charlotte yeah. I was more confused by having the provision for 22110 in the first place.

@ewenmcneill @whitequark those are great! also every single one I've ever seen is broken.

hey wanna see something cursed http://www.bplus.com.tw/Adapter/PNF4GCB.html
@whitequark I actually don’t think it’s cursed at all, if you need it, then it’s very useful and also seems very adaptable for all kinds of situations

@slyecho cursed doesn't mean not useful
