@emptywheel.bsky.social There was always a bunker beneath the original East Wing. It’s where Dick Cheney and other officials sheltered on 9/11. It’s just that TFG wants to expand it and build an ego-massaging gilded ballroom, too. The original bunker could have always been updated without demolishing the East Wing & certainly, without building an over-sized & unnecessary ballroom.
