Trust the Conservative to raise the spectre of China rather than our allied democracies. The difference, always, is the degree of control and criticism that is allowed. Cons do not believe in the arm's length principle and refuse to see it here it exists.
The biggest limitation on the CBC, IMHO, is a mandate effectively requiring it to compete for popularity. And then the level of funding.
